In the Beginning

Hi there Listners,

many of you don’t really know who I am in the great scheme of CKDSradio.

  • I’m not the C, the K and most definitely not the DS.
  • My name mainly comes up when equipment breaks down, money is short or new art work is needed.
  • It’s simple.
  • I’m the AV Monkey.
  • Globe trotting, Masters or Arts. Marketer of decorative surfaces. International man of randomness.

Steve “the Bossman” (note the double air quotes) Driver and I met a long long time ago in an alternate dimensional plane called Luton (Luton may in fact be imaginary).
We instantly hit it off; mostly fist to face at the top of some stairs.

In late 2004 we decided to combine forces professional, in a strategic low budget effort to conquer the world. Hair-brained schemes ensued like; PCguys, Snipesearch and MDP. At one point we were even thinking about an online travel agency.
But no idea was as ridiculous, ludicrous, or more fun than starting an online radio station.

Without much thought for where this would take us, we turned a spare bedroom into a studio. Steve and I jerry-rigged a bunch of video editing equipment into a makeshift audio desk. Ambitiously we integrated skype call-in features, an insane music library, sound effects and found DJs to launch CKDSradio.

Naturally, our first show was bound to have a few bugs, so Steve and I were ready to rewire everything at a moment’s notice. What we were not prepared for is DJs not showing up.
And that is how the AV Monkey ended up behind the microphone.

Our first few shows were epic in length and hilarity. I will never forget that overly friendly Frenchman, or the 21 days to Download.

Since then we have become a lot more professional and organized.
But with professionalism does not come maturity.

Our shows are still as random as ever. We just don’t sit around a crowded living-room with singstar mics anymore.

For me a lot has changed since those days. I still love CKDSradio, but it is hard to be personally involved when the studio is in Borehamwood and I spend my time between Thailand and Australia.

It is exciting times for CKDSradio. We are elevating our game and trying new things.
And I will do my best to share with you, what this means for those of us that represent CKDSradio abroad.

Future blog posts will include photos, completely pointless statements, comments about shows, travel and insults aimed at Steve.
