Comic-Con Junior 2024 in Brno was an experience we won’t forget anytime soon. With the CKDSRadio team scattered across the globe, this year, it was just me (Bossman) and my youngest son, Tallyn, diving into the weekend. And while travel didn’t go exactly as planned, we made the most of it. Best of all, we’ve got some great footage in the works — soon to be released on 8KFlikz.com for everyone to enjoy in top-quality 8K resolution!
The Bumpy Road to Comic-Con
The plan was straightforward: arrive in Brno by 9:30 PM on Friday, get a good night’s sleep, and be fully ready for the Saturday panels and events. But RyanAir had other ideas. Just as we thought we were smoothly on our way, our flight was diverted to Prague with the vague excuse of “weather” — though, curiously, Brno weather reports showed clear skies. Instead of arranging a quick transfer from Prague, RyanAir sent a coach all the way from Brno, meaning our night got longer and longer. By the time we actually crawled into bed, it was nearly 6 AM on Saturday, and there was no chance we could rally in time for Comic-Con.
We had to let Saturday go, but Sunday promised to be worth it. Determined, we charged up our camera gear, packed all the essentials, and set off to capture as much as we could for our upcoming 8KFlikz project.
Sunday at Comic-Con: Panels, Celebs, and Unscripted Moments
Once we arrived, Sunday was a whirlwind! With three cameras, a stabilizing gimbal, and a mountain of battery packs (not enough, as we’d later find out), we jumped into the heart of the action. Panels were our priority, and we got lucky with some stellar Q&As.
First up was John de Lancie, known worldwide as Q from Star Trek. He’s sharp, witty, and always full of surprises. When a fan asked him what he’d do if he had Q’s omnipotent powers for just one snap, de Lancie didn’t hesitate: “I’d get rid of Trump.” The crowd loved it, and it was one of those rare, candid moments we were thrilled to catch on film.
Then we joined Joe Flanigan’s panel. Known for his role as Lt. Colonel John Sheppard in Stargate: Atlantis, Flanigan had the audience laughing with stories from the set and some classic Stargate nostalgia. It was awesome seeing how much love the fans still have for the show, and Flanigan’s humor made it clear why he’s such a fan favorite.
One of the biggest moments for us was filming Jason Isaacs, the infamous Lucius Malfoy from Harry Potter. Isaacs is a man of many talents, with roles in The Patriot, Star Trek: Discovery, and so much more. He had the crowd laughing with a story about filming in Slovakia in the early ’90s. Isaacs and his crew had been deprived of fresh produce for days, and when they finally saw what they thought were tomatoes, they practically ran to the vendor. Imagine their surprise when the “tomatoes” turned out to be red cabbage, gleaming in the sun. The audience loved it, and Isaacs’ storytelling had everyone in stitches.
Meeting the Stars and Taking in the Scene

Panels aside, there was a lot more to see at Comic-Con Junior. We spent time exploring the incredible Star Trek display by Temný Smer — a standout for Star Trek fans. The amount of effort they put into their displays is mind-blowing, and their passion for the fandom always shines through.
We also had a blast checking out the stalls, browsing everything from collectibles to classic arcade games. I couldn’t resist the temptation to jump into a few of those old-school games myself, while Tallyn got his first real taste of Comic-Con magic. One of our favorite moments was getting a photo with John de Lancie and Arthur Darvill (aka Rory from Doctor Who). Darvill’s portrayal of Rory is a fan favorite, and meeting him in person was a thrill.
Capturing the Day for 8KFlikz
Even with all the gear we brought, it’s hard to capture everything. Between the Q&As, cosplayers, and the spontaneous moments, the batteries drained fast. We ended up with flat batteries by the end of the day, but not before capturing plenty of incredible footage for CKDSRadio’s upcoming project on 8KFlikz.com.
Editing this project will be a massive job, but it’s exactly the kind of thing that gets me excited. We’ll be sharing some of our best Comic-Con moments in ultra-high resolution so fans can experience all the highlights, even the ones they may have missed. From John de Lancie’s snappy quips to Isaacs’ cabbage story, the 8KFlikz videos will bring Comic-Con Junior to life in vibrant detail.
Reflecting on Comic-Con Junior 2024
Despite the travel delays and the Saturday setback, Comic-Con Junior 2024 was worth every bit of effort. Being there to capture these moments with Tallyn made it even better, and sharing it all with CKDSRadio’s followers on 8KFlikz.com is the cherry on top.
For those who couldn’t make it, keep an eye on 8KFlikz. The footage is in the works, and I can’t wait to share all the behind-the-scenes laughs, unforgettable Q&As, and the incredible fan energy. Until next time, here’s to fandom, Comic-Con, and the next adventure!
