The second episode of CKDS Radio’s comeback show is here, and it picks up exactly where the pilot left off: mid-chaos, mid-joke, and absolutely mid-sentence.

“Shooting the Shit with Steve & Jesse” Episode 2 is now available on Spotify and YouTube, streaming every week as part of the ongoing Project Phoenix relaunch of CKDS Radio.

What Happens in Episode 2?

Steve and Jesse dive in mid-cocaine joke (classic CKDS energy), immediately wrestling with live tech across Facebook, YouTube and TikTok simultaneously, weird co-host requests from TikTok strangers, and the very real anxiety of not knowing whether the mic is even on. It’s the kind of opening that reminds you exactly why the old station had a dedicated “CKDS Radio fuckups” jingle.

From there the conversation sprawls in the best possible way. Steve revisits the original CKDS Radio days, the licensing nightmares that came with running a music-based internet station, and why streams without personality are a dead end in 2025. If you’re going to do live properly, he argues, it costs more than most people realise, in time, money and sanity.

The episode’s most satisfying thread involves a destroyed vintage typewriter that has been holding up an 11-month Christmas film restoration project on 8KFLIKZ. One stubborn close-up shot. One machine that apparently decided to become a casualty. Steve turns this into a full crash course on why typewriters are secretly evil genius devices, before pulling the conversation into video resolutions, 8K restoration, and a genuine defence of objectively terrible films deserving a place in the archive.

Steve also opens up about writing a mythology-style dream multiverse book (available now on Amazon), and Jesse gets honest about something a lot of creators relate to: how hard it actually is to ask for money, especially when you’re planning a shoestring road trip across Europe on a storytelling mission.

Jesse and Nofar Are on the Road

Jesse and his partner Nofar are currently on a storytelling tour heading to the Netherlands, running the BeeFun Academy Life Jugglers project on the road. The episode gets into the real economics of that kind of trip, including how Wirex, crypto and smart payment links can keep a creative project alive when the fuel money gets thin. If you want to follow the journey or back the project, you can do both at allmylinks.com/beefunacademy.

The Rest of the Episode

There’s a proper gravy debate (UK versus Canadian), a Dutch fry sauce tangent, a Canadian gravy sandwich that genuinely stops Steve cold, and the eternal Marmite versus Vegemite question settled to nobody’s satisfaction. Beard and eyebrow philosophy makes an appearance. So do haircuts for charity, old-man bones, and an honest conversation about doing the work of 40 people on not enough sleep.

By the end, Steve and Jesse are already plotting a future 8KFLIKZ documentary built from Jesse’s road trip footage, plus a watch-party format for some truly questionable films. The universe is expanding.
